The calendar below shows both Friends events and events being presented by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) at the Refuge.
Picnic table Mountain Created on November 22
The FAMI work day at the Refuge was a success! The Refuge now has 18 new picnic tables ready for installation at the Picnic Area. Rusty and Alice Wainscott, Juanita and CL Davidson, Welton Springer, Cindi Barrett, Carroll and Charla Marsh, David Clayton and Larry Tisdale worked most of Saturday, November 22 to assemble the recycled plastic tables. There were a few scraped knuckles but 9/16” wrenches and socket wrenches along with team work prevailed and the pile grew rapidly! FAMI has also provided funding to revamp the lighting in the restrooms at the Picnic Area. Future work projects will be scheduled to help the Refuge refurbish the Picnic Area. Thanks to Charla and Alice for preparing a wonderful lunch for some grateful and hungry volunteers.Friends Support Refurbishment of Refuge Picnic Area
FAMI continues to support the refurbishment of the Refuge Picnic Area. As previously reported, the Friends have provided funding for 9 recycled plastic picnic tables which were assembled on November 22. FAMI has also provided funding for new motion activated lighting in the restrooms at the Picnic Area. The restrooms were recently re-opened after FAMI funded the purchase of two toilets that are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. Thanks to the resident volunteers and FAMI volunteers who provided assistance to the Refuge staff to complete the refurbishments thus far. FAMI will schedule additional work days to install the picnic tables and clean up the picnic area. If you wish to join these efforts contact Carroll Marsh, Project Coordinator.
